Famous Hungarians, oil, painting
January 6, 2019

90*60cm, oil on canvas
Victor Vasarely was an artist, was a Hungarian-French artist, who is widely accepted as a leader[2] of the op art movement. This portrait is the 6th work in a series 'Famous Hungarians', devoted to ethnic Hungarians, whom I liked before the immigration to Hungary. As far as I graduated Graphic Design department, op art was familiar to me. We tried to invent our own optic illusions on posters and graphics. I was pleased to learn, that Victor Vasarely has a nice foundation and museums in Budapest and Pecs, where he was born. Working on this piece, I tried to combine my painting style with optic illusions, using lines and masses of color in between.
