St. Jane Evartgelista

100 x 120 mm, oil on canvas
During the quarantine, I’ve started to work on a painting — St. Jane Evartgelista. The composition is taken from Bramantino’s St. John Evangelist. As St. John Evangelist, my heroine is getting inspired by the unseen infosphere. The painting depicts my heroine with a Koh-i-Noor pencil and a sketchbook as if it was a Bible, with the hand and a cigarette as if it was a praying gesture, in traditional drapes but with a sportive trendy collar.
My neologism Evartgelista refers to the first women and art. The full painting name ‘St. Jane Evartgelista’ has a female version of a name John to make the art piece more ironic and readable. This is a part of a series of my transformed bodies and self-portraits.
